Nu-Edge® brackets from TP Orthodontics are the first orthodontic appliances to be made of cobalt chromium (CoCr), which provides several advantages over stainless steel:
- CoCr is known for its hardness. The strength of Nu-Edge brackets prevents archwire slot collapse due to occlusal stress.
- CoCr shows both high tensile and fatigue strength.
- CoCr is resistant to corrosion.
- CoCr is 99.9% nickel-free and biocompatible for sensitive patients.
Nu-Edge brackets are cast rather than milled for superior smoothness, setting the standard for all metal brackets. Nu-Edge friction levels are shown to be lower than stainless steel brackets of similar design1.
